On Saturday a team from Generator Group are taking to the saddle to complete a 55-mile charity bike ride for The Anderson Foundation. We have been rising to this challenge for a few years now but it seems to creep up rather fast each year. And since I had one of my hips replaced last December, I fear that this year could be a harder challenge than ever!
I managed to put in a 22 mile training bike ride last weekend but that is all I have had time for, so I will be digging deep into my reserves to suddenly manage 55. Saying that, I have completed this ride twice and I love it – which is why I keep going back for more. The atmosphere is amazing, with riders all happy to chat and spur each other on. The route goes through some beautiful parts of Essex which is a wonderful way of seeing this lovely county that I live in. We pass through villages such as Margaretting, Fyfield, Hatfield Broad Oak and Pleshey – all very picturesque and English!
Fortunately, there are several pitstops along the way with food and drink which are always a welcome break. At the end we are also treated to a fabulous BBQ, plenty of liquid refreshments and a rather good DJ – not that I will be moving far off a chair by that time.
We are working hard to raise lots of money for this fabulous charity which supports the National Autistic Society. If anyone would like to send us a small donation we would be very grateful and our fundraising page can be accessed here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/GeneratorandFriends
